Subject: Resources<br><br>Folks,<br><br>Thanks to those of you that answered the call so far.<br><br>Let me just emphasize in addition to my proposal (below</span>) that it is perfectly fine to list published resources that are, or rather seem, irrelevant to the focus of Lowlands-L.<br>
<br>So by all means submit information for instance about your knitting school, dog grooming site, algebra textbook, photograph album or experimental music CD. Commercial services are all right to list as long as it does not amount to blatant advertising on the pages that mentions them.<br>

Subject: Resources<br>
<br>
Dear Lowlanders,<br>
<br>
I would like to propose putting together something we should have tackled much
earlier in my opinion: a web index of Lowlands-L members' on-line and off-line
resources and projects. In other words, what I am proposing is a web catalog of
our members' works that are available in electronic and/or printed forms.
This is apart from individual works displayed in our gallery
(<a href="http://lowlands-l.net/gallery/" target="_blank">http://lowlands-l.net/gallery/</a>), but the two may be linked where possible.<br>
<br>
This is an opportunity for all of you to advertise the resources you have made
available. The emphasis -- i.e. top-billing -- will be given to (bodies of)
works that are at least partly relevant to the focus of Lowlands-L. Works that
are not at least in part relevant will be mentioned on a lower priority level.
On-line resources will be briefly described and linked to directly. Off-line
works, such as magazines, books, CDs, videos and works of art or craft that
have been published in one way or another, will be briefly described, and
details of their availability will be provided, preferably each with a picture
and/or sound or video clip where possible. Included are works of collaboration
in which at least one collaborator is a member of Lowlands-L. While we cannot
make this a commercial enterprise, resources that are for available for pay
will not be excluded. Services you offer for pay can be briefly mentioned and
linked to in your bios, but this may not amount to outright advertisements.
(For instance, "X lives in Y where she works as a contract computer
programmer," "The owner of <link>Robo-Gerbil
Productions</link>, X visits international business contacts on a regular
basis," "X makes period dolls' underwear which she offers for sale at
<link>Shrunken Knickers</link>," "X has been a member
of the professional male belly dance troupe <link>Saif wa
Sāghāt</link> for six years and trains hamsters in his spare time").<br>
<br>
Please feel free to begin submitting information to me (<a href="mailto:sassisch@yahoo.com" target="_blank">sassisch@yahoo.com</a>)
under the subject header "LL-L My Resources"). The following
information is required:<br>
<br>
On-line resources (Web pages, blogs, etc.):</span></p>
<ul type="disc"><li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">Person's name</span></li><li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">Person's (general) location</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">Title of resource</span></li><li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">URL (Web address)</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">Language(s) used</span></li><li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">Very brief description of resource (in any language)</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;"><br>Off-line publications
(printed, recorded, etc.):</span></p>
<ul type="disc"><li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">Person's name</span></li><li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">Person's (general) location</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">Title of resource</span></li><li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">Publication details (publisher, place, year, ISBN
number, language, price)</span></li><li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">Very brief description of resource (in any language)</span></li></ul>
<p><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;"><br>The
following material is not required but would be very welcome:</span></p>
<ul type="disc"><li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">Very brief biographical sketch</span></li><li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">Personal picture</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">Picture(s) of cover or sample</span></li><li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">Audio or video clip</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">List of publications</span></li><li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">Contact information</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;"><br>To give you an example, Andy's and Sandy's well-known Scots
on-line resources (<a href="http://www.scots-online.org/" target="_blank">http://www.scots-online.org/</a>, <a href="http://scotstext.org/" target="_blank">http://scotstext.org/</a>) ,
Michael's on-line Appalachian resources
(<a href="http://www.cas.sc.edu/engl/dictionary/" target="_blank">http://www.cas.sc.edu/engl/dictionary/</a>) and Marlou's on-line Low Saxon
magazine (<a href="http://plattpartu.de/" target="_blank">http://plattpartu.de/</a>) would get top-billing, but I would not feature
them if Andy, Sandy, Michael and Marlou did not request that I do so.<br>
<br>
Let's think of a title for the catalog! Any suggestions? How about the
following?<br>
<br>
<b>Lowlanders' Catalogue</b><br>
A </span><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">directory of </span><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">resources offered by members of </span><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">Lowlands-L <br>
<br>
<b>Look 'em up!</b></span><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;"><br>
A </span><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">directory of </span><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">resources offered by members of </span><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">Lowlands-L </span><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;"><br>
<br>
Thanks in advance for your ideas and participation! As for inclusions and exclusions, please do not make assumptions but rather ask and make suggestions if in doubt.<br>
<br>
