I first sent a potential posting to myself (at Yahoo) from the LL-L (Gmail) account, and all "special" characters came out just fine. Then I posted it via the Listserv and my copy (received at Yahoo) arrived with the "special" characters all weird.</span><br style="color: rgb(0, 0, 153);">

<span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Nothing has worked right here (regarding characters that are not readily available in English) since end of January. Even EOL-characters for line feeds are shown. Puzzling is the fact that on a Mac, everything is OK as long as Thunderbird or Entourage is used, but not with Mail.app, no matter what encoding is chosen. Even changed protocol from POP3 to IMAP: no use.</span><br style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">

So far, she says, she gets the desired results by sending text in text mode rather than in HTML mode.<br>
<br>I am trying this here, just to see what happens (see test below). I do expect that that works. However, it will take away all formatting, which is a drag and a lot of work for me if I must recreate people's html formatting in the actual messages. I hope there's another way.<br>
<br>I've pasted this message into text mode and then into the email program whose default is now sending in UTF-8. Let's see what happens.<br><br>At any rate, there ought to be a better way, and we'll keep looking for a solution.<br>
