</span><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial;" lang="DE">Unter gewissen Voraussetzungen ist in der Lautlehre der Gegensatz <i>Frikativ</i>
(Reibelaut) – <i>Plosiv</i> wichtiger als andere Artikulationsaspekte. Hier
geht es weniger um Lippen- und Zungenstellung als darum, wie ein Laut <i>klingt</i>
und mit welchem anderen Laut er als solcher verwechselt werden kann. Solche
Verwechslungen können schließlich in gewissen Sprachvarianten zu dauerhaften
Verschiebung führen.<br>

In gewissen britischen und australischen Idiolekten (Einzelpersonen-Varianten)
des Englischen und auch in einigen Soziolekten (Gruppenvarianten) wird das <i>th</i>
labiodental [f] und [v] statt "richtig" interdental [θ] und [ð]
ausgesprochen; z.B. <i>through</i> = <i>fru</i>, <i>think</i> = <i>fink</i>,
<i>that</i> = <i>vat</i>, <i>father</i> = <i>faver</i>, <i>mother</i> = <i>movver</i>.
Ich nehme an, es kommt darauf an, welcher angeblich ähnlich klingende Laut von
den Sprechern als leichter auszusprechen empfunden wird. Im starken deutschen
Akzent entspricht dies den Frikativen [s] und [z] (<i>through</i> =</span><span style="" lang="DE"> </span><i><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial;" lang="DE">sru</span></i><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial;" lang="DE"> <i>think</i> =
<i>sink</i>, <i>that</i> = <i>zat</i>, <i>father</i> = <i>fazer</i>, <i>mother</i>
= <i>mazzer</i>). Im irischen Englisch ist jedoch die Zungenstellung wichtiger
als die Reibung; die Entsprechungen sind in diesem Fall die dental ausgesprochenen Plosive <i>t</i>
und <i>d</i> ([t̪]</span><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial;" lang="DE"> und [d̪]</span><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial;" lang="DE">, <i>through</i>

Ich nehme fernerhin an, dass in den niederdeutschen (also niederfänkischen und
niedersächsischen) Sprachen und auch im Deutschen im späten Mittelalter etwas
Ähnliches stattgefunden hat (also im Mittelniederländischen, Mittelsächsischen
und Mitteldeutschen), und zwar mit Hinsicht auf <i>ch</i> ~ <i>f</i>. Beide
Laute sind Frikative, das erste velar und das zweite labiodental. Somit hat das
Niederländische z.B. <i>graf, graven</i> und <i>gracht</i> von der selben
Quelle, wo anscheinend das <i>-t</i> die Verschiebung <i>graft</i> => <i>gracht</i>
verursachte. In den meisten niedersächsischen Dialekten ist <i>Graft</i> die
Entsprechung; nur in gewissen Dialekten im fernen Westen heißt es <i>Gracht</i>.
Die heutzutage selten benutzte deutsche Entsprechung ist (weiblich)
"Gräfte" (also ein schmaler Stadtkanal, ähnlich dem Fleet in
Hamburg). Etwas Ähnliches ist wohl im Fall von <i>schift ~ schicht</i> geschehen.<br>
