Here's a video clip about the controversial decision by BAFTA, the British
committee that nominates British movies for academy award consideration, to not
nominated the apparently outstanding, certainly highly acclaimed Scottish movie <i>Seachd : The
Inaccessible Pinnacle</i> for the foreign language category. In fact, no movie was submitted at all.<br>
<br>
Largely in Scottish Gaelic (with English subtitles), the movie <i>Seachd</i>
(pronounced like "shakhk", for Dutch speakers "sjachk", for German speakers "Schachk") deals with issues of cultural and
linguistic identity and conflicts that arise from them.<br>
<br>
Critics of the BAFTA's decision see it as a continuation of traditional chauvinism and exclusion <i>vis-Ã -vis</i>
Britain's
indigenous minority languages.<br>
