1) it is one of the numerous Scandinavian loans with sk for sh</span><br style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">
2) the methatesis is old, and there must have been parrallell forms ask</span><br style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">
and aks throug out history, which prevented -sk in ask to become -sh..</span><br style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">
