I'm not sure what the borrowing situation is (or which way it might've
been), but Norwegian (and other Scandinavians?) has "bedehus" meaning I

Actually, it could even go back to Old Saxon </span><i style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">bedehūs</i><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"> ("praying house"), since Christianization of Scandinavia, though regulated by the Franks, emanated from what is now Northern Germany. Hamburg was primarily established as a trading post and missionary headquarters for Scandinavia and to a lesser degree to the Polabian Slavs (who where geographically the closest to Hamburg at the time). In turn, "Vikings" and Slavs frequently attacked and sacked Hamburg. The beginning of these missions preceded the establishment of the Hanseatic Trading League.</span><br style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">
<br style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Norwegian may have received </span><i style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">bedehus</i><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"> directly from Saxon or via Danish, which has </span><i style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">bedehus</i><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"> as well. (It seems to mean 'chapel' rather than actually 'church'.</span>)<br style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">

In Icelandic I would expect *</span><i style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">bænhús</i><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"> or *</span><i style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">biðjahús</i><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">, in Faroese *</span><i style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">bønhús</i><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"> or *</span><i style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">biðjahús</i><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">. I can't verify the existence of any of them. Swedish, however, does have expected </span><i style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">bönhus</i><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">, which may or may not be a Saxon calque (i.e. loan translation). Finnish has </span><i style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">rukoushuone </i><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">("prayer room") which may or may not be a Swedish or Saxon calque. </span><br style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">
