<div><font size="2">"Sehen Sie, was mir da eben gebracht wird! Ein
bei einer Erdarbeit von Bauern gefundener alter Ring, der mit fein
ziselierten Ornamenten und einer Inschrift in gotischen Lettern
verziert ist!"</font></div>
<div><font size="2">Es war ein goldener Reif etwa um 1500, merkwürdig
gut erhalten, daß er kurze Zeit getragen worden .....</font></div>
<div><font size="2">Eine Urkunde (Prata, am 18. März 1892) bestätigt
den Fund des Ringes.</font></div>
<div><font size="2">Antonio Meneghel, Sohn des Paolo, ansässig in
dieser Gemeinde, erklärt durch Gegenwärtiges, daß er am 8. Januar corr.
bei seiner Arbeit auf freiem Felde, und zwar genau auf einem kleinen
Damme, welcher 52 Meter vom Flusse Meduna und 30 Meter von dem neuen,
zur Schutzwehr desselben Flusses errichteten Damm entfernt ist, in der
Lokalität, welche Kastellat genannt wird, in der Tiefe von ungefähr
zwei Metern einen Ring mit griechischen Initialen, welche er nicht zu
entziffern vermochte, fand. Er erklärt ferner, daß dieser Ring durch
Vermittlung des Barcarols Vincenzo Cereser in Venedig an den Herrn Dr.
Henry Thode verkauft wurde, welcher mich bittet, gegenwärtige Erklärung
abzugeben.</font></div>
