haven't heard 'Kroot' or 'Padde'. According to my etymological dictionary
'Üütz' is not related to 'Unke'. I'm not sure what the sentence about the
Brothers Grimm means, but if you say that their tales somehow influenced the
meaning of the word, that's not correct. 'utze' meaning toad is already present

don't know anything about it, but the word 'Ültje' appears in Otto Buurman's
"Hochdeutsch-plattdeutsches Wörterbuch. Auf der Grundlage ostfriesischer
Mundart" published in 1975 on page 443. At least that's what Google says.
I cannot check the actual content. But that would be a promising place to look
for further information.<br>
