Are you serious? Book burning? That's exactly what the Nazis would have done,
isn't it? I have no sympathy for book burning at all. It doesn't matter for
what reason they are burned. Burning books is never okay.<br>

The first song in the book "Deutschland, Deutschland über alles" by
the way is still sung today, it's the national anthem of Germany (and when I say "today", I
mean it in both the extended and the literal sense [October 3 is the national
day of Germany,
today is the 20th anniversary of the re-unification]). Although the verse
containing the line "Deutschland, Deutschland über alles" is not part
of the official anthem anymore.<br>

have a more restraint view on freedom of expression nowadays. The result though
may be a colorless collection of opinions, and no ideals anymore for whipping
up our younger generations.</p>

(Erinnerungen) am Tag der Einheit ...</p>

Kindheit die "Braune Zeit" mit erlebt. Es ist erstaunlich, daß ich
noch heute Erinnerungen abrufen kann, ja, Erinnerungen, Eingehämmertes, daß ich
fast weinen muß, so etwas erlebt zu haben.</p>
<p style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;" class="MsoNormal">Vom Horst-Wessel-Lied wurde
immer nur die erste Strophe gesungen, dabei mußte man den rechten Arm nach
vorne strecken so lange, bis das Lied zu Ende gesungen war.</p>
<p style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;" class="MsoNormal">Wir Kinder mußten im 10.
Lebensjahr beitreten a. die Mädchen dem JM (Jungmädel) und die Jungen dem
Jungvolk). Ab 14. Lebensjahr dem BDM <span style=""> </span>(Bund Deutscher Mädchen, wir ökelten und
sagten "BUBI DRÜCKT MICH").</p>
<p style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;" class="MsoNormal">Die Jungen entsprechend
(weiß nicht mehr genaue Bezeichnung) ähnliche Gruppen (Pimpfe...?), aber
unvorstellbar. Sie trugen ab 14. Lebensjahr einen besonderen Gürtel mit einem
großen Koppel (Schnalle), darin tief und groß eingraviert "FÜR BLUT UND
EHRE" <span style=""> </span>und manche waren sogar stolz
darauf. Aus dieser Bezeichnung können wir alle Verbrechen (Hass gegen Judentum
usw.) ableiten.</p>
<p style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;" class="MsoNormal">So trugen wir Kinder schone
eine Uniform. Wehe dem wir sagten das Wort "Kluft", denn es soll
angeblich ein jüdisches Wort sein. Das könnte man ja noch erkunden.</p>
<p style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;" class="MsoNormal"> </p>
<p style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;" class="MsoNormal">Mein Pflegevater
Tischlermeister Hermann Wilken (27.07.1886), der für mich als 'Vater' eher ein Großvater war, ein
alter Sozialdemokrat und die 'Braune Zeit' verachtete. Nicht nur während des 2.
Weltkrieges traf er sich jeden Abend mit seinem Freund Hugo Haker (Uhlen-Haker
sein Spitzname) ein Bootsbauer in <span style=""> </span>meinem
Elternhaus und sie diskutierten bei Kerzenlicht heimlich über das politische
Geschehen. Das Holz beruflich bedingt hatte ihre Freundschaft gefestigt. Und
sie horchten im Radio (Göbbels-Schnauze) verbotene Sendungen ab, es muß ein
Sender London (Sendung in Deuscher Sprache) gewesen sein. Ich hatte mein
Nachtlager hinter der Tapetenwand und konnte alle tieflotenden Gespräche
mithören und auch schon recht gut begreifen. Ja, sie diskutierten übereifrig
über alle Grausamkeiten jener Zeit und ich hatte manchmal Angst. Meine
Pflegemutter Adolfine Wilken, geb. Bohnsack 28.12.1890 (eher eine Omi für mich) stand oft mit
hochrotem Kopf vor mir und sagte so eindringlich zu mir "... dat dörfst du
nienich anner Minschen vertellen, süss halen sei uns af", ja, als hätte
sie es gestern gesagt, so tief noch diese ermahnenden Worte.</p>
<p style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;" class="MsoNormal">Ein Berufsfreund meines
Pflegevaters Onkel ? Fritsche erzählte in einer sommerlichen Abendstunde im
Freundeskreis (Begegnung Alter Garten Schwerin um 1941), sei kregen wedder de
Politik bi de Uhrn, un hei säd "... disse Verbräker Adolf bingt uns noch
in'n Dod". Eine Stunde später wurde er abgeholt ...KZ? Wir hörten nie
wieder etwas von ihm.</p>
<p style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;" class="MsoNormal">In <span style=""> </span>unserem Hause gingen auch Juden ein und aus,
sie trafen sich bei der Schneiderin Selma Wendler. Ich sah einmal in schwarz
gekleidet eine ältere zierliche Frau, sie trug den großen gelben Judenstern</p>
<p style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;" class="MsoNormal">auf der rechten <span style=""> </span>Seite des dunklen Mantels. Sie wirkte krank
und ängstlich, ich war sehr ergriffen, auch diese Bild hat sich bei mir tief
eingeprägt.</p>
<p style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;" class="MsoNormal">In <span style=""> </span>der achten Klasse der Volksschule hatten wir
eine Lehrerin, extra aus Berlin
kommend, als Klassenlehrerin. Sie hieß Margarete S. und war eine große Narzisse
(Nazi).Bloß kein verkehrtes Wort sagen...</p>
<p style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;" class="MsoNormal">Ja, man hatte uns Kinder den
Lebenslauf von A. so eingehämmert, manches könnte ich noch abrufen, will es
aber nicht.</p>
<p style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;" class="MsoNormal">So könnte ich noch viel
berichten.</p>
<p style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;" class="MsoNormal">Der Sohn meiner Pflegeeltern
mußte sein Leben für den 2. Weltkrieg hergeben, er hatte gerade jung geheiratet
und hinterließ eine junge Witwe, die ihre Heimat Memel /Ostpreußen (ein großer
Bauernhof) verlassen mußte...)</p>
<p style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;" class="MsoNormal">Meine Pflegeeltern konnten
den Verlust ihres Sohne nie überwinden. Als noch alles gut im Leben war, sang
mein Pflegevater fröhlich während der Arbeit Volkslieder, ehr war ein
Tenor-Sänger im Männerchor. Ich hörte ihn nie wieder singen. Sie zerbrachen an
ihrem Schicksal, Die Schreie meiner Pflegemutter über die formelle
Todesnachricht auf einer blauen Postkarte kann ich nie vergessen. Ich habe noch
diese Karte. Sie hatten allen Lebensmut (nach einem harten erfüllten Leben)
verloren und auch nicht mehr die Kraft für mich da zu sein. 1947/1948 verstarben sie
nach der Hungerzeit (Kriegsende) und ich war noch ein Kind. Als Pflegekind
konnte ich ihnen nicht den Sohn ersetzen, weil ich selber Probleme hatte...</p>
<p style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;" class="MsoNormal"> </p>
<p style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;" class="MsoNormal">Der Tag der Einheit ist für mich ein offenes Tor in
die weite Welt. FREIHEIT!!! Was wäre ich ohne euch liebe Lowlands-Freunde,
lieber Ron und Marlou. Es ist so schööön! Ich bin zufrieden und glücklich und
danke und grüße euch von ganzem Herzen.</p>
<p style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;" class="MsoNormal">Ich könnte auch heute noch
gerne eine Scheibe trocknes Brot essen, wüßte
ich, daß Menschen nie Hunger leiden
müssen...</p>
