Well, it's about time somebody else took over this "World Language"
malarkey.</p>

"ha-ha, I speak your language and you can't speak mine!" business.
Besides English I can get by in three, maybe four or five at a pinch. That's
about 4,995 to go I reckon.</p>

favor of constructed languages, despite their supposed neutrality. Esperanto
and Interlingua and even Mondlango (whose creators are Chinese) are anything
but neutral; they are based on dominant European languages. Similarly, Volapük
is based primarily on German, English and French and in addition uses sounds
(/ü/, /ö/) that are difficult for speakers of many other languages to
pronounce. </p>

<p style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">This
might be throwing out the baby with the bathwater. Most languages constructed
with the intention of creating a world lingua franca (not all are constructed
for that reason) have been very poorly designed, and along pretty much the same
lines, at that: it doesn't mean that there isn't a good way of doing it.</p>
<p style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;" class="MsoNormal"><br>
One fresh idea was Lojban (well, the fresh idea was Loglan but that seems to
have fallen by the wayside), which attempts to frame the clarity and power of
mathematical logic as a natural easy-to-pronounce language. Unfortunately,
while the logic aspects of it are very good, they do seem to have made a hash
of a lot of the natural-language aspects, and there's some considerable doubt
as to whether anybody really speaks it in the way it was intended to be spoken,
or even if this would be humanly possible. This doesn't mean that somebody
couldn't make a fresh start and do a much better job in the future.<br>
<br>
Anyway, I wouldn't reject the idea of constructing a universal lingua franca,
it just seems to me to be a concept whose founding genius hasn't come along
yet.<br>

What I was trying to get at with “neutral” is that a lingua franca be relatively
easy to process as a foreign language by speakers of all the world’s natural languages
and that it have at least the capacity for or potential of being a convenient medium
in all walks of life, and this includes expression of cultural diversity.</p>

<p style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;" class="MsoNormal">From a constructed lingua franca
I expect in addition logical and simple morphology (both lexical and grammatical).
For example, the majority of the world’s languages cope perfectly well without articles
and without mandatory gender morphology. (Indefinite and definite gender are contextually
implied, and gender markers are added only for necessary clarification.) So there
would have to be a strong intercultural consensus as to the inclusion of those.</p>

Dank voor de toelichting. Mooi gezegde: 'op epos-werwe', maar wat betekent dat
precies?<br>
Ik had mij zelf op het verkeerde been gezet. Eerder had ik bedoeld te zeggen
dat de taalontwikkeling van eerste, tweede, derde, vierde en volgende
generaties computertalen (RT) niet te vergelijken is met de ontwikkeling van
Natuurlijke talen (NT). Maar ik ging daarbij uit van de functiebeschrijving. In
bijv. de huidige RT-talen zit meer funcionaliteit in 1 woord ingebakken in de
taal dan in de oudere RT-talen. Zelfs in eenvoudig 3G-Basic kun je door 1 woord
de functie machtsverheffen gebruiken. In bijv. 3G-Cobol moet je de functie
machtsverheffen met veel woorden beschrijven als een herhaald vermenigvuldigen.
In beide gevallen zal de CPU (na interpretatie of compilatie) in principe de
zelfde instructies uitvoeren. </p>
<p style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;" class="MsoNormal"> </p>
<p style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;" class="MsoNormal">Het praten in RT is als het
praten tegen een hond, je geeft commando's/opdrachten en de hond (of enig ander
circusdier) voert die 1:1 uit. In NT daarentegen zal de ene mens iets anders
verstaan als de ander, ondanks de zelfde gebruikte woorden. Niet wat gezegd
wordt is dus bepalend, maar wat gehoord wordt. De 'ontvanger' bepaalt wat
gezegd of geschreven is. Inderdaad, een 1:n relatie. Dat is toch eigenlijk een
raar verschijnsel! Valt dat interpreteren van de ontvanger ook onder
creativiteit? Ik denk het niet. Dit heeft meer te maken met conceptualiteit en
contextualiteit van de ontvanger, zijn (taal)opvoeding en dagelijkse
taaldomein, lijkt mij.</p>
<p style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;" class="MsoNormal"> </p>
<p style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;" class="MsoNormal">De metafoor dat leven
gebeurt volgens '<' en dat '=' de dood inluidt, begrijp ik niet helemaal of
het moet zijn dat het leven van taal kleiner is dan alle mogelijkheden en dat
een niet-levende taal ten dode is opgeschreven. Kan leven ook '< = >' zijn? Een
spontane maar korte evolutie in RT komt soms voor door elektrische
kortsluiting.;-)</p>
<p style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;" class="MsoNormal"> </p>
<p style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;" class="MsoNormal">Tot, laat ik zeggen de
achttiende eeuw, was het in de westerse wereld toch vaak de kerk die de
(taal)ontwikkeling bepaald heeft. Daarna werd dat overgenomen door de
industrialisatie, wetenschap en politiek (technologie valt naar mijn mening
onder industrialisatie). Is er een nieuw ykpunt te voorspellen die het Engels
van de troon zal stoten en de NT een nieuwe richting op zal sturen? Na onze
(westerse) economische en bezitterige leefwijze wordt het misschien weer tijd
voor grote denkers (als Plato, Socrates, e.a.) en maakt het Chinees ook in dat
opzicht een goede kans
om binnen honderd jaar de nieuwe wereldtaal (NT) in filosofische stromingen te
worden. <br>
