    Subject: <span><span></span></span><span>Etymology</span></font></p><p class="MsoNormal"><br><font size="2"><span></span></font></p><p class="MsoNormal">Wow! Thanks, Luc!<br><br>So, folks, what is an "adder stone" in English and <i>adderstanes</i> in Scots (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adder_stone">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adder_stone</a>) is a <i>Hühnergott</i> ("chicken/poultry god") in German. There seems to be a Slavic link (Russian <i>куриный бог</i>, Ukrainian <i>курячий бог</i> "chicken/poultry god"), if not origin, where these and other types of stones served as talismans. The adder stone played an important role among Druids.</p>
