but not an imminent threat. A fire popped up yesterday in Leander
(about 15-20 km from my house) that destroyed 4 or 5 houses. </span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:Consolas"> </span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:Consolas">I
have seen the photos from California frequently of wildfires, but never
had them so close. Texas has wildfires often, but they’re mostly in
West Texas some 300 – 400 km away from Austin. </span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:Consolas"> </span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:Consolas">We
just finished the hottest summer on record with 80 days of 38C or
higher, some 25 or so of those at 41C or higher. When we got a “cold
front” that brought temps down to about 33C, we thought it was great.
However, the long drought along with the single digit humidity made us
ripe for wildfires.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:Consolas"> </span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:Consolas">Now that the temps have gone down, we’re lookin’ for rain.</span></p>
