<div><font size="4">Liebe Lowlanders, meine Schwiegermutter Gertrud -- eine echte
Hamburger Deern -- benutzt manchmal zum Zweck freundschaftlicher Beschimpfung
folgende Wörter: "Du siehst ja aus wie'n Bietschkomer, du Bagalut!" Das ließ mir
natürlich keine Ruhe, und hinter das erste Wort bin ich meines Erachtens
hintergestiegen: Es muss sich um engl. beachcomber = Strandräuber handeln.
Gertrud war sich jedoch nicht bewusst, dass es Englisch ist, sie hatte nur so
einen Verdacht, und geschrieben wurden solche Wörter ja nicht. Das Englisch, das
die Hafenarbeiter früher in Hamburg sprachen, nannte man nach Gertruds Aussage
"Ketelklopper-Englisch", es wurde von englischen Heizern und Seeleuten
aufgeschnappt. Den Bietschkomer betrachte ich als geklärt, aber wie ist es mit
dem Bagaluten? Woher kann dieses Wort stammen, und wie müsste es geschrieben
werden? Hat jemand eine Idee?</font></div>
