right off the top of my head, "lob" is the core of this word, denoting
something heavy, bungling down. Suffix -es can be compared with
dreum-es, a northern way to make a noun. Up here we say "ne löbben"
(same meaning).</div><div><br></div><div>And! I believe English "lubber" (as in landlubber) is the same word.</div><div><br></div><div>Apparently
German "lorbas" also interferes with "lo(r)be(e)r", (~ laurel berry,
cf. Western German dialect dictionaries). Was therefore initally
guessing that a final -s for berry (like Dutch bes, bees) may also have
been possible in some Saxon varieties...but now thinking I will have to
