</div><div>It seems that there is a whole group of words in Germanic languages beginning with "sn" which are all related to and meaning some parts of or actions with the snout / snus / snute / Schnüss / Schnauze. Covering the fore-standing / protuding part of human and animal's face and head, be it nose or mouth.<br>
</div><div>But I have the impression, that in the social use of the words the <i>snup / Schnupf / snuff </i>twig of these words tend nowadays to relate more to nose, the <i>snute / schnüss / snus</i> part to mouth.<br></div>
<div style="font-size:18px">-- OT: -- By the way, the essential kind of consumption of the so-called "chewing tobacco" or "Kautabak" is at my estimation not really chewing but sucking.
