<div dir="ltr">I think convincing them there is an online community eager to contribute is a very strong argument. The idea of "crowd sourcing" is hot right now. They do not have the interest or resources to explore every regional issue. Even major languages like Hindi or Japanese are very problematic right now as far as Google translate is concerned. They are eager for community participation.<div><br></div><div>It is said that "a language is a dialect with an army and a navy", well maybe a dialect with an active community of willing contributors is just as good.<br><div><br></div><div><br></div></div></div><div class="gmail_extra"><br><div class="gmail_quote">2017-07-20 11:18 GMT-04:00 Lowlands Languages & Cultures <span dir="ltr"><<a href="mailto:lowlands-l@listserv.linguistlist.org" target="_blank">lowlands-l@listserv.linguistlist.org</a>></span>:<br><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex"><div dir="rtl"><div dir="ltr">Hi all,</div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr"> I've requested Facebook they should add low german into their language poll since they recently had added West Frisian which isn't much an obvious choice.</div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">That being the case, to my surprise Google Translate added West Frisian as well.<br></div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">I don't consider West frisian the closest language to English language because of certain reasons.
