Yes.  Part of the ritual of Confirmation (and baptism) is to anoint 
the person with chrism (sanctified oil)  It is the outward and 
visible sign of an inward and spiritual grace that is imparted 
through the sacrament.  With Baptism the other sign is the 
water.  With confirmation the other sign is a slap on the face from 
the bishop who administers the sacrament.
