studied Nahuatl poetics. I write Nahua-inspired poems in English (with some
code switching in Nahuatl). Through Humanities Washington <i><span
style='font-style:italic'>Inquiring Mind</span></i> series, I perform these
poems accompanied by a Mexican musician on pre-Hispanic instruments. I have
written a Song for the Dead (Miccacuicatl), Song of Women (Cihuacuicatl), Song
of Spring (Xopancuicatl), and Song of a Suddenly Ancient Man (my version of Huehuehcuicatl).
