Recommendations for language areas, linguistics-specific geographic entities

Hello,

Has anyone out there thought about a namespace for linguistics- 
specific geographic entities (e.g., "the Balkan Sprachbund"). For  
entities with more than linguistic relevance, this is the DC  
recommendation:

http://www.getty.edu/research/conducting_research/vocabularies/tgn/

Similarly, has anyone thought about what sort of geographic types we  
might want to classify a resource as belong to ("country",  
"sprachbund", etc.)
