Dear folks,
I've been thinking a little about what we can do to make a
splash at next year's annual meeting in San Francisco. We
talked a bit about the possibility of renting a room for demos and
workshops once upon a time. I still think this is a good idea. Does
anyone know how this room-renting business works or who I could
write to? It's early, but probably we have to plan well ahead to make
the deadline.

I'm thinking we could band together, pool our resources, and host
something like an Archives Room for 2-3 days. We would need a
room with Internet connections and lots of outlets, then we could
bring our own laptops etc. We could have some scheduled things,
like a mini-digitization tutorial or a talk even, and maybe scheduled
"open house"s for particular archives or projects, and the rest of the
time just have posters on display and minders sitting there to guard
the stuff and answer questions. There should be enough of us to pay
for this, don't y'all think? AILLA could kick in $100 or two, I think.

We have to do something to wedge this archiving idea into people's
heads!

Any thoughts on making a splash in SF next year?

Heidi
