Dans le cadre du LABEX EFL "Empirical foundations of Linguistics", un  
projet d'une durée de 10 ans initié en 2011, nous proposons un post- 
doc de 6 mois (ou un an à mi-temps) à partir de décembre 2011. Le  
candidat sera basé à l'Université Paris-DIderot, au Laboratoire de  
Linguistique Formelle (UMR 7110/LLF). Ce stage s’effectuera sous la  
responsabilité d'Elisabeth DELAIS-ROUSSARIE au sein de l’opération  
de recherche « Phrasing prosodique et hiérarchie prosodique : une  
approche basée sur les données »,  opération rattachée à l’axe  
1 « Complexité en phonétique et phonologie : renforcer les approches  
empiriques ».
La personne retenue sur le poste aura à proposer dans un paradigme  
grammatical probabiliste/stochastique une grammaire formelle qui rende  
compte de la formation des constituants prosodiques en français. Comme  
de nombreuses contraintes indépendantes interviennent et interagissent  
d’une façon complexe, des analyses sur corpus seront nécessaires  
pour établir une « liste » des contraintes/ principes qui  
interviennent et pour évaluer leur rôle/poids respectif.
Les candidats doivent avoir un doctorat en prosodie et/ou en  
phonologie. En outre, ils doivent avoir certaines compétences:
(i) une excellente connaissance des travaux de phonétique et de  
phonologie  consacrés à la structure prosodique et à l’interface  
phonologie-syntaxe. Une bonne maîtrise des modèles phonologiques  
stochastiques récents (stochastic OT, etc.) serait un plus.
(ii)  Avoir travaillé sur la structuration prosodique en français ou  
dans d’autres langues germaniques ou romanes ;
(iii)  Avoir une expérience des approches sur corpus et des approches  
expérimentales en phonologie  (phonologie de corpus, phonologie de  
laboratoire) ;

Dear colleagues,

We offer a 6 months or one year postdoc position in phonology and  
prosodic phrasing within the 10-year LABEX project "Empirical  
foundations of linguistics" that started in 2011. The position is  
based in Paris, at the University Paris-Dideret, UMR 7110/LLF. It is  
linked to the strand « Phonetic and phonological complexity - boosting  
empirical approaches » of this project, and more specifically to the  
research programme supervised by Elisabeth DELAIS-ROUSSARIE  :  
"Prosodic phrasing and prosodic hierarchy : a data driven
approach.".
The person filling this position will have to investigate how to  
provide a formal grammar that accounts for prosodic phrasing in French  
in a stochastic grammatical paradigm. As many independantly motivated  
constraints come into play and interact in a complex way, corpus  
analyses will be necessary to formulare and outweight the various  
constraints/parameters. The  applicant should have a PhD in phonology  
or phonetics. She/he should also have the following skills :

(i) excellent knoweldge of phonological and phonetics works dedicated  
to phrasing and the phonology-syntax interface. Comprehensive  
understanding of recent stochastic approaches to phonological modeling  
will be highly valuable (stochastic OT, etc.)

(ii)  research experience in phrasing in French and/or in other  
Romance or Germanic languages
(iii) experience in corpus work and experimental phonology (designing  
an experience to elicit data, etc.)
