Title: On the structure of complex predicates in creoles

Abstract: This presentation sketches some results of ongoing work on the
structure of complex predicates and verb serialization in creole
languages, among them: Morisyen, a French-related creole, and
saramaccan, an English-based creole. The first question is whether there
is a unified analysis possible and/or feasible of the astonishing
variety of constructions that go under the umbrella-term "complex
predicate". The second question concerns the concatenation principles of
complex predicate formation.
