*Description of the Position/Opportunity and the Department:*
The Department of Linguistics in the College of Arts and Sciences at The 
Ohio State University invites applications for a tenured Associate 
Professor or tenure-track Assistant Professor in Phonology, with a 
starting date of August 2013. Candidates should have a strong background 
in core phonological theory, with additional expertise in the theories, 
methods, and data of at least one other related area such as 
computational phonology/morphology, fieldwork-based analyses of 
under-described language varieties, sociophonetics, phonological 
acquisition, or phonological processing. The Department of Linguistics 
at Ohio State has a long history of interdisciplinary collaboration, 
interacting with and supporting other programs, including contributions 
to the Buckeye Language Network and the Center for Cognitive Science, 
and collaborations with Computer Science and Engineering, Psychology, 
Philosophy, Speech and Hearing Sciences, and the foreign language 
programs, among others. Linguistics faculty have built strong ties with 
affiliated faculty across the university through research 
collaborations, student advising, co-taught courses, curricular 
development, workshops, and conferences. Candidates who are interested 
in building connections and interacting with faculty and students across 
this broader linguistics community are particularly encouraged to apply.

*Qualifications:*
Applicants should have a demonstrated record or strong likelihood of 
publication in top-tier journals in phonology, as well as promise for 
excellence in teaching core graduate and undergraduate courses and 
advising students in the study of the cognitive representation of 
language sound systems. Applicants at the level of Associate Professor 
must have a strong publication record reflecting theoretically-driven 
interests and a national reputation for high-quality research. The new 
assistant or associate professor will be expected to be active in 
research and publication, to meet standard departmental teaching 
requirements, and to perform service duties as required by the 
Department and the University.

Review of applications will begin on November 16, 2012, and will 
continue until the position is filled. Dossiers consisting of a letter 
of interest, curriculum vitae, and statement of research and teaching

to identify 3-5 samples of published or unpublished work, including at
