<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Cette journée réunit linguistes et philosophes
autour de leurs travaux récents sur la sémantique de la pluralité et des
pluriels et en particuliers autour des thèmes suivants : la notion de tout et de
collection, la dépendance contextuelle dans la compréhension des expressions de
la pluralité, la relation entre les pluriels et les évènements, les modèles
mathématiques et formels pour la représentation de la relation partie-tout.

de faits linguistiques anciens et récents (pluriels, pluralisation verbale, noms
collectifs, modifieurs, ….) et des nouvelles perspectives philosophiques et
formelles (mereologie classique revisitée, la théorie des types et des
descriptions, la sémantique des situations …)</FONT></DIV>

philosophers to present<BR>their recent work on the semantics of plurals,
dealing with such issues as<BR>the notion of a whole and a collection,
context dependence in the<BR>understanding<BR>of plurals, the relation between
plurals and events, formal and<BR>mathematical<BR>models to represent plurality
and part-whole relations.<BR> <BR>The workshop aims to stimulate a
discussion focusing on old and recent<BR>linguistics facts (plural NPs, verb
pluralization, collective nouns,<BR>modifiers, ...) and new philosophical and
formal insights (revisited<BR>classical mereology, type theory, situation
semantics ...).</FONT></DIV>
