introducing the concepts and practices of language documentation and its links to
language description for future and novice field linguists. It will draw upon
the extensive expertise of the three organizing universities involved in these

"Arial","sans-serif"'>It is co-organized by the <i>Africa Latin America
Endangered Languages</i> (<b>AALLED</b>) program of the Agence Nationale de la
Recherche (ANR) of the <b>University of Lyon</b>, the <b>Leiden University</b> <i>Centre
of Linguistics </i>of the Netherland, and the <i>Endangered Language Project </i>(<b>ELAP</b>)
of The School of Oriental and African Studies (<b>SOAS</b>) of the<b> </b> <b>University
of</b> <b>London</b>.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal style='text-align:justify'><span lang=EN-US
style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>This international summer school on
Language Documentation and Description will include general presentations and
workshops <b>in English, with the possibility of group discussions in French
for linguists working in francophone countries</b>. Mornings will include
keynote talks of general interest followed by group discussions; afternoons
will alternate linguistics fieldwork sessions and workshops on new methods and
technologies used in the <i>Documentation – Description – Archiving</i>. Access
to group discussions and work sessions will be restricted to <b>50 selected
participants</b>.</span><span lang=EN-US style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:

issues of work on endangered languages organized by the University of Lyon will
take place at the end of this summer school.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
