candidate will be an experienced,<BR><BR>accomplished, energetic individual to
lead the development of its graduate and<BR><BR>undergraduate programs to
national prominence; this person will have a Ph.D. and<BR><BR>substantial record
of scholarly publication that merits appointment as a tenured
full<BR><BR>professor at a major research institution.<BR><BR>The Department is
in its fourth year as an independent, Ph.D.-granting unit with<BR><BR>more than
twenty full-time faculty in the areas of language instruction, linguistics,
and<BR><BR>Latin American, Peninsular and U.S. Hispanic/Latino literature and
culture. The ideal<BR><BR>candidate will build upon the possibilities for
Hispanic Studies in a border state with a<BR><BR>large and growing
Spanish-speaking population.<BR><BR>A flagship institution, Texas A&M is an
