The relationship between prosody and discourse has been viewed from the perspective of phonology, semantics, syntax, pragmatics, language acquisition, language processing, language pathology, stylistics, language evolution, and speech synthesis. Moreover, research has been carried out in a wide range of theoretical paradigms.
