L'acquisition d'une langue constitue pour tout sujet un phénomène complexe. Cette complexité est d'autant plus grande lorsque l'apprentissage se situe dans un contexte interculturel, synonyme de confrontation avec l'altérité. En tant qu'élément constitutif de la culture, la langue est un marqueur identitaire, qui induit des questionnements tant pour le maître que pour l'élève. La connaissance, comme la langue, s'insère en effet dans un processus de circulation des discours dans lequel socialité et historicité sont indissociables et où le savoir est d'emblée discursif.<br>

Cet ouvrage analyse un certain nombre de situations de transfert des savoirs et d'apprentissage dans des contextes plurilingues et interculturels où la didactique a partie liée avec l'identitaire, aussi bien en France qu'en dehors de l'hexagone : en Indonésie, en Tunisie, ou à Madagascar. Il se présente également comme une contribution à une réflexion plus large sur la didactique du français langue étrangère, seconde et de scolarisation. Il met en évidence que le plurilinguisme des élèves en milieu scolaire ordinaire est un phénomène ignoré, qui illustre l'indifférence de l'école à tout ce qui ne rentre pas dans son champ institutionnel. Le contexte de la mondialisation atteste pourtant de la nécessité de développer la capacité des enseignants de langues/cultures à prendre appui sur la diversité des élèves afin de développer les compétences linguistiques et culturelles de ces derniers et de construire une historicité des apprentissages en relation avec les contextes sociaux, culturels et historiques.<br>

Marie-Madeleine Bertucci et Isabelle Boyer enseignent la linguistique et la communication à l'université de Cergy-Pontoise et sont membres du pôle LaSCoD du Centre de Recherche Textes et Francophonies. Intéressées par les questions d'éducation et de formation, elles souhaitent par cette réflexion contribuer à la recherche sur l'enseignement du français et la didactique du plurilinguisme.<br>
