Ce n'est pas par hasard que, de nos jours, pour parler de la linguistique, on tend à remplacer le singulier «science du langage» par le pluriel «sciences du langage». L'emploi de ce dernier terme n'est pas fortuit et semble se justifier dans la mesure où, d'une part, il désigne «l'ensemble des domaines connexes prenant pour objets d'étude les langues et le langage » et, d'autre part, il « [...] vise à souligner la diversité des approches scientifiques de ces objets ». (Dictionnaire des Sciences du Langage, Neveu 2004 : 261).<br><br>Cette pluralité que réclament aujourd'hui les chercheurs en Sciences du langage, loin d'être restreinte à celle des disciplines concernées, tient non seulement à la multiplicité des aspects étudiés mais semble surtout liée à la diversité des méthodes appliquées, qu'elles relèvent de démarches générales, adoptées par l'ensemble des chercheurs ou qu'elles soient internes à une discipline ou à une théorie particulières. De la collecte des données à leur analyse, en passant par leur traitement avant d'aboutir à des conclusions qui confirment ou infirment une hypothèse préalablement formulée sur la base de la définition d'un objet d'étude précis, à toutes ces étapes de l'investigation scientifique, la question des pratiques de recherche fait sens. Elle est devenue centrale et se révèle d'autant plus pertinente que nous sommes confrontés aujourd'hui tant à la prolifération des modèles théoriques et à leur interopérabilité qu'à la nécessité de réaliser des recherches interdisciplinaires visant à éclairer des zones inexplorées ou insuffisamment approfondies d'un objet, aspects pour lesquels l'image fournie par une seule discipline n'est souvent que très fragmentaire ou lacunaire.<br><br>Cependant, si l'accent est souvent mis sur l'hétérogénéité des approches, il est impossible d'omettre le fait que le point commun d'études des sciences du langage est le même, à savoir les langues et le langage. La question se pose donc de déterminer comment les spécialistes venus d'horizons différents et ayant de ce fait des pratiques et des angles d'attaque différents, lorsqu'ils sont confrontés à un même phénomène, arrivent à en rendre compte avec des outils et méthodes propres. On peut également se demander si cette richesse de pratiques, telle qu'elle se présente dans le quotidien d'un chercheur, aide à nourrir la réflexion sur une interopérabilité des modèles élaborés et des résultats obtenus.<br><br>Sur la base des ces réflexions, nous invitons les intervenants à présenter leurs travaux sous l'angle des questionnements suivants:<br>1) Dans quelle mesure les choix théoriques conditionnent-ils le travail de recherche ?<br><br>2) Le chercheur peut-il et doit-il se cantonner à la compartimentation des disciplines, ou au contraire exploiter leurs interfaces ?<br><br>3) La modification éventuelle des objets sur lesquels les jeunes chercheurs travaillent débouche-t-elle sur une modification des pratiques de recherche ?<br><br>4) Dans quelle mesure les outils techniques étendent-ils ou au contraire limitent-ils les perspectives de résultats en regard du cadre théorique ?<br><br>5) Comment les jeunes chercheurs issus d'une formation en Sciences du langage peuvent-ils s'approprier ces outils techniques ?<br><br><u>Disciplines concernées</u> : Didactique des langues, sémantique, syntaxe, phonétique, phonologie, traitement automatique des langues, acquisition du langage, traductologie, psycholinguistique, sociolinguistique, analyse du discours, stylistique.<br><br>---------------------------------------<br><b>Soumission</b><br><br>Les propositions de communication orale se feront en police Times New Roman 12, interligne simple, sous forme d'un résumé de 1000 mots au maximum (références incluses) et les propositions de poster sous forme d'un résumé de 500 mots au maximum (références incluses).<br><br>Les propositions sont à envoyer au Comité d'Organisation par courriel (rjc-ed268@univ-paris3.fr) en double exemplaire au format .rtf : le premier sera nommé « anon_nom-de-l-auteur_rjc2010.rtf » (par exemple « anon_DUPONT_rjc2011.rtf ») et contiendra :<br><br><b>Le titre</b><br><b>5 mots-clés</b><br><b>La discipline</b><br><b>Le résumé</b><br><br>Le second nommé « nom-de-l-auteur_rjc2011.rtf » (par exemple « DUPONT_rjc2011.rtf ») devra comporter les informations suivantes, en plus des précédentes :<br><br><b>Les coordonnées (nom, prénom, courriel et adresse postale)</b><br><b>L'affiliation et le niveau d'études (préciser le nombre d'années pour le doctorat),</b><br><b>Le directeur de recherche</b><br><br><b>Une seule soumission par participant sera examinée.</b><br><br>Les communications orales et les posters pourront se faire en anglais ou en français. Today, linguistics is no longer referred to as the science of languages, but rather as « Language sciences ». The use of the plural is not fortuitous at all and can be justified insofar as, on the one hand, it describes « the set of connected fields of research studying language / speech and language systems » and, on the other hand, it « [...] focuses on a diversity of scientific approaches to those objects of research ». (Dictionnaire des Sciences du Langage, Neveu 2004 : 261).<br><br>Today, far from being restricted to the disciplines concerned, the plurality claimed by Language Scientists not only lies in the multiplicity of the aspects studied, but also seems to be linked with the various methods used, whether they result from general approaches or from particular theories or fields. The question of practices in scientific research makes sense at every level of scientific investigation: the steps taken by language scientists range from data processing and analysis before they can reach some conclusions that can either reinforce or undermine a hypothesis that has been previously formulated on the ground of a definition of the specific aim of an investigation. This issue has become essential. It now turns out to be all the more relevant as we are confronted with proliferation of theoretical models and their interoperability as well as with the necessity of doing some more interdisciplinary researches aims at shedding some light on unexplored or insufficiently studied aspects of an issue, aspects that have been imaged only with one type of level of investigation which is often incomplete and full of gaps. <br>However, in spite of the strong emphasis placed on the heterogenous approaches, one should not overlook the fact that all the sciences of language are united by one common object, that is language (language systems) and languages (language / speech). Hence the importance to determine how experts from various backgrounds deploy their respective knowledge, method and approach, when presented with one and the same issue. Maybe we could even go as far as to suggest that the large variety of methods every researcher is regularly confronted with might help them to consider the compatibility of different theoretical approaches and the results they lead to.<br><br>We invite participants to present their work with regard to the following questions:<br>1) To what extent do theoretical choices determine research work?<br><br>2) How do researchers deal with the clear-cut distinctions among the different branches of linguistics? Should we rather opt for inter- or cross-disciplinary approaches?<br><br>3) Does any alteration of an object of study go along with changing methods and practices?<br><br>4) To what extent do research tools restrict or broaden the scope of expected results within a theoretical framework?<br><br>5) Considering their background in linguistics, how can young researchers acquire this kind of technical knowledge?<br><br><u>Disciplines concerned by the topic:</u> Language education, semantics, syntax, phonetics, phonology, natural language processing, language acquisition, translation studies, psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, stylistics.<br><br>---------------------------------------<br><b>Submission</b><br><br>Proposals for oral presentations should be typed in Times New Roman 12, simple spacing, in the form of a summary of 1000 words at most (including references) and the proposals for posters in the form of a summary of 500 words (including references).<br><br>Propositions are to be sent to the Organization Committee by e-mail (rjc-ed268@univ-paris3.fr), in the .rtf format. They should be sent twice:<br><br>- The first one will be named "anon_NAME_rjc2011.rtf" (for example: anon_SMITH_rjc2011.rtf) and will contain:<b> title, fields of research, 5 keywords, a summary</b>.<br><br>- The second named " NAME_rjc2011.rtf " (for example SMITH_rjc2011.rtf) will contain the following information, besides the previous ones :<b> personal data (last name, first name, e-mail and personal postal address), level of studies (clarify the number of years for the doctorate), research supervizor(s)</b>.<br><br><b>Only one submission will be examined for each participant</b><br><br>The languages of oral presentations and posters will be in English or French. The duration of oral presentations will be 20 minutes + 10 minutes for questions.
