<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 11.0pt;" lang="FR">Nous
présentons une analyse du discours du new Labour Party au
Royaume-Uni sur la période 1994-2007. Notre étude trouve son
originalité à la fois dans les cadres théoriques et
méthodologiques de l’analyse, et dans les interprétations
qu’elle offre. Il s’agit pour nous d’élaborer une analyse
cognitive de discours politique basée sur une étude de corpus<b><i>.</i> </b>D’un point
de vue théorique, nous combinons les ressources de la
linguistique cognitive (théorie de la métaphore conceptuelle,
théorie des espaces mentaux, blending theory) et celles de
l’analyse de discours, pour offrir un regard nouveau sur le
fonctionnement d’un discours politique efficace, tout en
conservant un maximum d’objectivité dans notre analyse. Notre
étude se base sur un large corpus de textes et de discours du
new Labour Party, ainsi que deux corpus secondaires composés
de textes du parti Conservateur de la même époque d’une part
et de textes du Labour Party sur la période 1945-1993 d’autre
part. En surcroît d’analyses qualitatives détaillées, nous
procédons à une analyse quantitative de nos données grâce au
logiciel en ligne WMatrix (Rayson 2009), qui permet un travail
sur concordances, collocations et mots-clés définis par le
test statistique du rapport de vraisemblance. Nous montrons
comment l’élaboration d’une méthode originale et efficace
permet d’éclairer le fonctionnement d’un discours politique :
il s’agit à la fois de comprendre comment le discours des
nouveaux travaillistes reflète les changements du parti au
niveau des choix politiques et de l’organisation, et de
montrer comment le discours du parti fait partie intégrante
des stratégies de rénovation, puis de maintien au pouvoir, de
l’équipe Blair-Brown. Nous traitons tour à tour des questions
d’identité, de stéréotypes politiques, de la place du
changement dans le discours, avant d’étendre notre réflexion à
l’élaboration d’un modèle métaphorique de discours politique
contemporain. </span></p>
