<p><div style="color:#000;background-color:#fff;font-family:tahoma, new york, times, serif;font-size:10pt;">Dear colleagues, <BR><BR>The final call for abstracts for the the annual conference of the <BR>Association of French Language Studies (AFLS) which will be held at Newcastle <BR>University from Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd June 2012 has been extended to Friday 14th of January 2012. <BR><BR>This conference, as the annual meeting of the Association for French Language <BR>Studies, is open to the whole range of French language studies. This includes <BR>French linguistics and French language teaching in Higher Education. This <BR>year, we invite in particular papers which address change in representation <BR>or usage in connection with the French language. Change in representation <BR>can occur in the individual, in first and second language acquisition, whether <BR>in natural or classroom settings. Change in representation can equally occur
<BR>in the language community: in diachrony as well as in connection to language <BR>variation across space, society, and style. <BR><BR>Papers and posters are invited on any aspect of French language studies, <BR>in particular first and second language acquisition, diachronic change, language <BR>structure, language variation and language teaching. Contributions may be <BR>in English or French and focus on any variety of French, or French-based <BR>pidgins and creoles, from any period in time. <BR><BR>We aim to gather an international community of French language researchers <BR>and thus get a sense of where the field as a whole is going. Contributions <BR>are welcome from both established and junior researchers, including postgraduate <BR>students. <BR><BR>Abstracts should be no longer than 300 words (excluding title and references) <BR>and should be submitted via the Linguist List EasyAbs portal by Monday 9th <BR>January 2012. We are only accepting
electronic submissions in .doc, .odt <BR>and .pdf formats. Abstracts will also be anonymously reviewed, so author <BR>names and affiliation should not appear anywhere on abstracts. They must <BR>also be written in the language of delivery. <BR><BR>Oral presentations at AFLS 2012 will be 20-minute papers with 10 minutes <BR>for audience questions and discussion. Posters will be presented during dedicated <BR>sessions, with each author being assigned an A0 size (841 x 1189mm) landscape <BR>space to display their work. <BR><BR>All abstracts conforming to the above guidelines will be reviewed anonymously. <BR>The pool of reviewers comprises the AFLS executive and the local organising <BR>committee. Cette année, nous nous adressons en particulier aux chercheurs <BR>qui s?intéressent aux changements affectant la représentation et l?usage <BR>de la langue française. Un changement de la représentation linguistique peut <BR>s'effectuer chez l?individu, lors de l?acquisition d?une langue maternelle <BR>ou langue seconde, que ce soit en milieu naturel ou scolaire. Un changement <BR>peut également s?effectuer au sein de la communauté linguistique: en diachronie <BR>ainsi que lors de la variation linguistique dans
l?espace, la société ou <BR>au niveau du style. <BR><BR>Le sujet des présentations orales ou par posters doit avoir un lien avec <BR>l?étude de la langue française, en particulier l?acquisition d?une langue <BR>maternelle ou d?une langue seconde, la structure de la langue, le changement <BR>diachronique, la variation linguistique et l?enseignement du français. Les <BR>langues de communication seront l?anglais et le français et les communications <BR>pourront porter sur toutes les formes du français, ou des pidgins et créoles <BR>français, de différentes époques. <BR><BR>Nous souhaitons rassembler une communauté internationale de chercheurs impliqués <BR>dans l?étude de la langue française pour évaluer ensemble l?évolution de <BR>cette discipline. Nous invitons tous les chercheurs, y compris les doctorants, <BR>à apporter leur contribution. <BR><BR>Les propositions de communication ne devront pas dépasser 300 mots (sans <BR>compter le
titre et la bibliographie) et devront être soumises via le portail <BR>Linguist List EasyAbs avant lundi 9 janvier 2012 inclus. Seules les versions <BR>électroniques sous format .doc, .odt et .pdf seront acceptées. Les propositions <BR>seront évaluées de façon anonyme donc le nom des auteurs et leur institution <BR>d?origine ne devront pas être mentionnés. Les propositions devront être rédigées <BR>dans la langue de communication. <BR><BR>La durée prévue des présentations à l?AFLS 2012 est de 30 minutes (20 minutes <BR>suivies de 10 minutes pour les questions). Les posters seront présentés lors <BR>de séances spécifiques. Un espace d?affichage de 840 x 1189 mm sera mis à <BR>la disposition de chaque auteur. <BR><BR>Toutes les propositions conformes aux instructions ci-dessus seront évaluées <BR>de façon anonyme par le comité de recherche de l?AFLS et le comité d?organisation <BR>de l?AFLS 2012.
