comme une faute dans l’histoire de la rhétorique et dans le discours des
grammairiens, la répétition<span> </span>est décriée
comme pléonasme ou tautologie quand elle associe un caractérisant purement
redondant par rapport au caractérisé et dévalorisée quand elle est vue comme
source d’un effet de sens négatif, la redondance. L’approche énonciative et
pragmatique des figures<a href="http://fr.mg41.mail.yahoo.com/neo/#_ftn1" name="_ftnref1" title><span class="MsoFootnoteReference"><span><span class="MsoFootnoteReference"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman";">[1]</span></span></span></span></a>
s’éloigne évidemment de cette conception référentialiste des mots et du
discours pour inscrire les figures dans un processus par lequel les locuteurs ou
les énonciateurs ajustent leur rapport cognitif et intersubjectif aux mots, à
la réalité et aux allocutaires. Dans le cadre théorique de l’approche
énonciativo-pragmatique pourra être amorcée une mise en ordre du fonctionnement
syntaxique et sémantique des formes de la répétition. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;text-indent:35.4pt;">Afin d’assurer
la cohérence des études proposées, on s’intéressera uniquement aux
configurations où il y a reprise d’un même matériel formel. Les répétitions lexicales
sont définies strictement comme reprises explicites d’un segment linguistique,
quel que soit l’empan de ce segment linguistique, depuis l’unité lexicale
jusqu’à la séquence textuelle, en passant par les unités intermédiaires du
segment phrastique et de la phrase<a href="http://fr.mg41.mail.yahoo.com/neo/#_ftn2" name="_ftnref2" title><span class="MsoFootnoteReference"><span><span class="MsoFootnoteReference"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman";">[2]</span></span></span></span></a>.
Seront de fait éludées les répétitions de structures syntaxiques, qui induisent
des<span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Comic Sans MS";"> </span>parallélismes
structurels et rythmiques, parce qu’elles se situent à un niveau infralexical.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;text-indent:35.4pt;"><span> </span>La variation du signifiant même si le signifié
ou le référent reste identique est un motif d’exclusion des figures de
l’expolition ou de la paraphrase. En revanche, les configurations où le
signifiant reste identique se situent au cœur de ce projet : les figures
de l’anaphore<a href="http://fr.mg41.mail.yahoo.com/neo/#_ftn3" name="_ftnref3" title><span class="MsoFootnoteReference"><span><span class="MsoFootnoteReference"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman";">[3]</span></span></span></span></a>,<span> </span>de l’épiphore<a href="http://fr.mg41.mail.yahoo.com/neo/#_ftn4" name="_ftnref4" title><span class="MsoFootnoteReference"><span><span class="MsoFootnoteReference"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman";">[4]</span></span></span></span></a>,<span> </span>de l’épizeuxe<a href="http://fr.mg41.mail.yahoo.com/neo/#_ftn5" name="_ftnref5" title><span class="MsoFootnoteReference"><span><span class="MsoFootnoteReference"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman";">[5]</span></span></span></span></a>,<span> </span>de l’antanaclase<a href="http://fr.mg41.mail.yahoo.com/neo/#_ftn6" name="_ftnref6" title><span class="MsoFootnoteReference"><span><span class="MsoFootnoteReference"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman";">[6]</span></span></span></span></a> -
pourront par exemple être proposées à l’analyse, ou tout autre procédé de reprise
d’un même matériel lexical. Les exemples sont ici empruntés au discours
littéraire français mais les phénomènes de répétitions lexicales pourront être
envisagés dans tout type de discours, médiatique, politique, ou autre aussi
bien qu’à d’autres sphères langagières. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;text-indent:35.4pt;">La répétition
lexicale sera envisagée en particulier dans son rapport à la textualité, qui se
constitue sur le binôme identité – variation ou altérité. La seconde
occurrence, dans le cas de la répétition, ne vient pas se substituer à la
précédente mais s’y ajoute pour donner de l’épaisseur aux mots. La répétition
voisine alors avec le processus de reformulation qui articule un avant-texte
auquel il renvoie anaphoriquement et une expression qui peut être identique
formellement mais qui fonctionne comme expression nouvelle pointée comme
aboutissement d’un processus discursif. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;text-indent:35.4pt;">Les
répétitions jouent sur la reprise du même - on rejoint le cas de la
réduplication <i>stricto sensu</i>, définie comme « répétition littérale,
immédiate et iso-fonctionnelle d’un quelconque segment textuel »<a href="http://fr.mg41.mail.yahoo.com/neo/#_ftn7" name="_ftnref7" title><span class="MsoFootnoteReference"><span><span class="MsoFootnoteReference"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman";">[7]</span></span></span></span></a> - mais
l’inscription dans la chaîne linéaire du texte fait que la seconde occurrence
est forcément différente de la précédente : le signifié peut subir une
altération de sens en relation avec le cotexte. La problématique de la
répétition réside dans ce paradoxe d’une reprise à l’identique, en surface, qui
la désigne cependant comme fait d’hétérogénéité énonciative modalisant un
premier énoncé ou le mettant en perspective. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;text-indent:35.4pt;">La répétition
lexicale s’appréciera à l’intérieur d’une unité de discours, depuis la phrase
jusqu’à une œuvre tout entière. Pour les grands corpus, l’outil informatique
pourra être utilement proposé pour repérer les répétitions comme itérations, au
sens de François Rastier<a href="http://fr.mg41.mail.yahoo.com/neo/#_ftn8" name="_ftnref8" title><span class="MsoFootnoteReference"><span><span class="MsoFootnoteReference"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman";">[8]</span></span></span></span></a>. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;text-indent:35.4pt;">Trois axes
sont proposés à la réflexion : </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;"> </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;"><b>Répétitions lexicales et
configurations syntaxiques</b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;text-indent:35.4pt;">Les répétitions
s’inscrivent dans la linéarité du texte tout en instaurant une discontinuité
apparente puisqu’elles en freinent la lecture cursive. C’est le fonctionnement
sémantico-syntaxique des répétitions qui pourra être interrogé. Les
constructions syntaxiques variées des répétitions sont à corréler à des
implications sémantiques diverses. Les répétitions sont à appréhender comme des
formes-sens. On pourra évaluer en les comparant diverses réalisations de
l’épizeuxe, en particulier des structures comme, entre autres, « il
était d’une paresse, mais d’une incurable paresse » ; « il avait
des principes, enfin de grands principes » ; « si le magnifique
poème de cet amour secret devait avoir une fin, que dis-je une fin » (Balzac,
<i>Mémoires de deux jeunes mariées</i>). </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;"> </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;"><b>Répétitions lexicales et
points de vue</b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;text-indent:18.0pt;">L’analyse de
ces variations formelles et sémantiques pourra être située dans le cadre
énonciatif théorique des postures énonciatives<a href="http://fr.mg41.mail.yahoo.com/neo/#_ftn9" name="_ftnref9" title><span class="MsoFootnoteReference"><span><span class="MsoFootnoteReference"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman";">[9]</span></span></span></span></a> et menée
à la lumière de l’hypothèse des points de vue en confrontation. La dimension
pragmatique et interactionnelle des répétitions sera ici envisagée, comme un
lieu où se disent les rapports de force, les négociations discursives, que le
discours se construise en co-énonciation, en sur-énonciation ou en
sous-énonciation, que les points de vue se cumulent ou se contredisent. Le
calcul des instances sources des points de vue et de leur prise en charge
pourra contribuer à éclairer les formes de répétitions. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;text-indent:18.0pt;"> </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;"><b>Répétitions lexicales et construction
du sens</b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;text-indent:18.0pt;">Les
répétitions posent la question du sens. La répétition qui se constitue par la
tension entre le même et le différent induit que le sens n’est pas réductible à
un signifié unique mais se conçoit comme la somme de signifiés successifs, non
autonomes et dont la concaténation<span>
</span>révèle la complémentarité, ou comme une succession de points de vue sur
les objets du discours. La dimension cognitive des figures de répétition
permettra de les envisager comme procédés d’ajustement du dire aux choses, au
dit lorsque se manifeste l’auto-répétition, à la doxa, au discours des autres.
Les concepts d’hétéro-dialogisme et d’auto-dialogisme peuvent être exploités. <span> </span>Des affinités peuvent-elles être trouvées
entre les mots répétés et les mots-clés d’un imaginaire ? « Répéter
permet de créer des pics énergétiques dans la linéarité de l’écriture »
(S. Abiker).</div>
