Ferdinand de Saussure développe en 1906 l'hypothèse d'un principe de composition des poésies anciennes : l'anagramme. Il y consacre, trois ans durant, plus d'une centaine de cahiers manuscrits sans en publier une ligne. Ces travaux, découverts dans les années soixante, ne sont connus depuis que par des extraits. Qualifiés tantôt de géniaux, tantôt de délirants, ils restent, faute de réelle édition, largement méconnus. Anagrammes homériques vient combler cette lacune. <br>
Établie selon des principes philologiques, la présente édition contient la totalité des textes connus relatifs aux anagrammes dans la poésie homérique ; elle donne pour la première fois accès à un corpus cohérent de travaux de poétique de Ferdinand de Saussure. Réunissant vingt-quatre cahiers et quelques feuillets séparés, elle permet de comprendre l'élaboration et les développements progressifs de l'hypothèse anagrammatique. L'analyse minutieuse des vers de l'Iliade et de l'Odyssée tente de saisir le travail vocal à l'œuvre dans la fusion poétique – nouveau versant de l'entreprise linguistique et poéticienne de Saussure.<br>
