la néologie. Malgré l’intérêt que ce type de néologie suscite auprès du grand public, il est
relativement peu étudié dans de nombreuses langues dont le français. En outre, les études qui
existent sont souvent fondées sur des présupposés différents et exploitent des méthodes
disparates, de telle sorte que les résultats sont rarement comparables. À cet égard, la synonymie
– parfois seulement partielle toutefois ! – de ‘mots-valisation’ et d’amalgamation lexicale (entre
autres synonymes) est tout à fait symptomatique.

<p><span style="font-size:12.000000pt;font-family:'TimesNewRomanPSMT';">Blends are one of the most visible and frequently commented on of all types of neologisms. But
in spite of the widespread general interest in this form of linguistic creativity, it is relatively
seldom studied in many languages, in particular in French. Those studies that do exist are
frequently founded on differing presuppositions and use different methodologies so that the
results are usually not readily comparable. Though the designation </span><span style="font-size:12.000000pt;font-family:'TimesNewRomanPS';font-style:italic;">blend </span><span style="font-size:12.000000pt;font-family:'TimesNewRomanPSMT';">seems to have attained
consensus status in English, the same cannot be said of other languages, and the terminological
confusion can be seen as a sign of uncertainty about what exactly is involved in lexical blending.
