Could this be what we have been waiting for? The 'R-1 Portable 24-Bit
WAVE Recorder & Player' is a small recorder that captures wav files
at 24bit/44.1khz, see http://www.edirol.com/products/info/r1.html.

It has a USB 2.0 connector for digital output, as well as an optical
output for digital streaming.

Does anyone have any experience of this?
