Genealogy software

Hi all,
I'm about to embark on a linguistic anthropology project and I'm looking for
a good geneaology software program that is:
a) Mac compatible
b) Functional. Ie, can handle non-monogamous relationships, photos, text
references and sundry metadata.
c) Universal or universalisable

In other words, I'm after a product that could be prefaced with "Nine out of
ten anthropologists prefer...".
