transcriber problem

I'm running Transcriber on three Macs, all about the same generation, all
running the same operating system (OS 10.4.11). On one of these machines,
Transcriber plays all my .wav files at what sounds like half speed. The same
files sound fine on the other machines. I've re-installed Transcriber
several times and it hasn't helped.
Does anyone have an idea?
