Dear all,

Today we have released version 3.5.0 of ELAN.

This is a minor release that adds preliminary support for interaction with
the ISO Data Category Registry and that simplifies the creation of
translations for ELAN's user interface.

The ISO Data Category Registry (DCR) is one of the ISO initiatives towards
the establishment of standards for Language Resources and towards
improvement of interoperability in Language Resources. Data Categories
specified by the DCR are elementary descriptors of linguistic concepts. ELAN
now allows to create references from annotations, tiers and entries in a
controlled vocabulary to these data categories.

Furthermore this release makes it easier to create a translation for the
user interface of ELAN. Two properties files can be copied to ELAN's data
folder and then be edited. When the "Custom" item in the Language menu is
selected these files are used for the user interface texts.

Finally a few fixes and improvements have been realized, mainly in the area
of import (Praat and Toolbox), export (Chat, media clips and SMIL), single
and multiple file search and tier copying.
