There has been quite a bit of discussion about this on the RNLD list going
back at least 4 years -- go to

and
search for "headphones" and you'll see all the previous posts on this topic,
some of which have very useful information.

There isn't an FAQ on the RNLD website about this topic -- perhaps someone
should write one?
