 SUBJECT:              Urgent advertisement of Positions 621005, and
621013 in Language and Literature Department

I hereby submit to you the draft advertisements for the vacant
positions 621005, and 621013 which will be vacated by Dr. Lynus Yamuna
end of January 2011.  It is urgent that these positions be advertised
immediately so that appointments can be made asap for appointees to
take up the offer at the start of the year.  The positions 621005 and
621013  are to be advertised at the level of a Senior
Lecturer/Lecturer in the specialization of Language, Literature and
Linguistics, to be advertised at the level of a Senior
Lecturer/Lecturer.

1.      Position G621005 - Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Language,
Literature and/or Linguistics
The Department of Language and Literature is currently seeking a
suitably qualified candidate for the position of Lecturer/Senior
Lecturer in the field of Language, Literature and Linguistics. The
successful applicant should have a Master of Arts Degree and/or PhD in
Language, Literature and Linguistics and or Applied Linguistics for
appointment at Senior Lecturer level. Specific requirements include
successful undergraduate and postgraduate teaching experience at
tertiary level in a developing country, with internationally
recognized research achievements reported in established journals,
experience in supervision of postgraduate research students,
substantial administrative experience  and expertise and demonstrated
ability to provide academic leadership in  both teaching and research
at a  high level .

The successful applicant will be expected to teach all Language and
Linguistics courses, conduct research and publications, take a
leadership role in the development of undergraduate and postgraduate
programs, and supervise postgraduate research students. In addition,
s/he must possess working knowledge, competency and expertise in
computing skills. Applicants with background in media/ communications
and performances would be of an advantage.

2.  Position G621013  - Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Linguistics
The Department of Language and Literature is currently seeking a
suitably qualified candidate for the position of Lecturer/Senior
Lecturer in the field of Linguistics. The successful applicant should
have a Masters Degree and/or PhD in Language and Linguistics for
appointment at Senior Lecturer level. Specific requirements include
successful undergraduate and postgraduate teaching experience at
