Hi Rnlders,

As you may have noticed there is a new exciting development in the Elan
interface. We've been working hard here at MPI to get it just right for
high-speed transcription of complicated video data (but it works for audio
too!). This the "transcription mode" mentioned in the release notes below.
In short it allows you (or your native-language consultants) to focusing
on listening and typing, listening and typing...no mouse or fiddly
keyboard combinations needed. It also provides a really nice UI for doing
translation work by automatically creating annotations in a side-by-side
tabular view.

In any case I strongly recommend you check it out if transcription and
translation is one of the things you do.

You can read more about it here on Mark Dingemanse's blog:
http://ideophone.org/transcription-mode-in-elan/

If you have any questions or comments don't hesitate to email - we'll be
happy to hear feedback.

As for the next development in UI and functionality, you'll just have to
wait and see...

Cheers

Jeremy
