Request for reviews of Arbil (archive builder)

Hi, all!

We here at Wangka Maya language centre are currently trying to come up with some new metadata procedures that will improve the consistency, longevity, searchability and interconnectedness of our metadata files. Up until now, our metadata has been rather unorganized-sometimes collected in multi-project Excel spreadsheets, sometimes in Word tables dedicated to individual recordings. We'd like to institute a system that will allow us to preserve not only detailed background information on our range of files (audio, photos, etc.) but also to preserve the linkages between them (we already give associated files the same name, but since they are sometimes stored in different directories a future linguist may nevertheless have problems finding them all).

Anyway, I read on MPI's website about their Arbil (archive builder) program, and I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with it. Also, general metadata opinions and suggestions are always welcome.

Thanks very much,
Amanda
