RNLD Award for Creativity in Indigenous Youth Language Projects

Dear RNLDers,



The Resource Network for Linguistic Diversity is very pleased to announce
that entries are now open to our first *Award for Creativity in Indigenous
Youth Language Projects*.



This award has been created to recognise young Indigenous people's
achievements in sustaining Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander languages.



The award aims to

-    celebrate the variety of language projects which young Aboriginal and
Torres Strait Islander people are creating and/or participating in to
strengthen and support their languages,

-    encourage greater participation in Indigenous language activities by
young people,

-    bring wider public attention to Indigenous language issues.



*Eligibility*

Entrants must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent and aged
25 years or younger. There are three age groups:

-    12 years and under

-    13-18 years

-    19-25 years

Projects must support the revitalisation of an Australian Indigenous
language.



The following prizes will be awarded in each category:

-    1st prize: Zoom Q3 Video Recorder

-    2nd prize: Zoom H1 Audio Recorder

-    3rd prize: Jackal Recordable Reader



Award guidelines and application forms can be downloaded from the RNLD web
site <http://www.rnld.org/award>.



Submissions are due no later than *5.00 pm on 29 June 2012* (Australian
Eastern Standard Time). Winners will be announced at RNLD's Annual General
Meeting in August.
