[RNLD] 'up'

Also relevant – the prepositional parts of these phrasal verbs have developed into suffixes in Kriol which relate to telicity e.g. kam (come) vs kamap (arrive) (although note the –ap is not optional in some varieties of Kriol for kam) and fil-im (pour) vs filimap (fill). This process is already underway in English obviously.

There's an entry for up pp.221-2 in Jay Arthur's Aboriginal English: a cultural study. (OUP, 1996)

Hi all,
Does anyone know of any research on the use of ‘up’ as in ‘yarning up' in Aboriginal English?
