Aboriginal Interpreter Service are advertising the Training Manager position. Applications close 23/4/17.

AIS is a big part of the effective delivery of many services in the NT, a hugely important service for Aboriginal voices to be heard and a significant player in the language sector. There is always so much happening at AIS that I would encourage people with the skills, passion and energy to apply. It is a service that sees results very quickly.

This is a time when interpreting demand is predicted to increase greatly and there is an urgent need to make sure we have interpreters trained and supported to meet this demand. The expectations on our interpreters are growing and we are being asked to do bigger and more complex projects all the time. The next year should also see an increase in on-demand (phone and video) interpreting and some online training being developed.

Applications are through https://jobs.nt.gov.au/, search for ‘Training Manager’ and it should pop up. Applications just ask for a 1 page cover letter and CV (not 8 pages on the selection criteria please!!). It is advertised under ‘Special measures’, so ATSI applicants are assessed against the criteria first.
