Joseph,

Here's an early instance of a digital linguistic description linked to
primary data. The web version of this paper contained a button beside each
data tabulation which initiated a query to regenerate that tabulation. The
result of the query included the search terms which enabled you to modify
the query and resubmit. (Sadly it is long-since broken, due to lack of
continuous tending.)
