Third International Conference on Documentary Linguistics – Asian
Perspectives (DLAP-3)
(23 – 24 July 2018)

Expanding on the success of DLAP-1 and DLAP-2 hosted at The University of
Hong Kong in 2016 and 2017, we are happy to announce the 3rd International
Conference on Documentary Linguistics – Asian Perspectives, to be held at
Research Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia (RILCA), Mahidol
University, Thailand from the 23rd – 24th July 2018.

The theme of DLAP-3 will be ‘Working with Communities: Toward reclamation
of linguistic and cultural heritage’. There will be a post-conference field
trip to the Black Tai community in Petchaburi province.

The aim of the conference is to consider the benefits, methodologies, and
challenges of working with communities in attempts to revitalize linguistic
and cultural heritage. In order to build effective and sustainable
“Linguistic and Cultural Heritage Documentation and Revitalization”
movements, collaboration with communities is important, however, so far
there has been limited accumulation of knowledge and tools. We therefore
propose a forum for exchanging our experiences and thoughts about any
aspect of working with communities.

We also welcome contributions regarding the general topic of “Linguistic
and Cultural Heritage Documentation and Revitalization”, particularly in
Asian contexts.
