In the midst of a national tour supporting the Violent Femmes, Rayella will host a screening and Q&A session in Brisbane at the Schonell Cinema on 5pm Thursday 30 March, which will look at how Rayella approach language revitalisation.

RAYELLA is an Indigenous father and daughter music duo, Raymond and Eleanor Dixon, from the Marlinja Community (NT). They write songs that deliver a journey into the heartbeat of Australia’s centre through lyrics that are filled with tales of life and history from the Mudburra people’s homeland.

The screening of their short film and Q&A session will give audiences a glimpse into how Rayella use their contemporary music to maintain their Mudburra language. Listen to Ray and Eleanor discuss their approaches to language revitalization and music writing and watch them teaching the local children their song Warlungka, which is a meta-lesson on Aboriginal learning styles.
