Dear list subscribers,

Mirima Dawang Woorlab-gerring Language and Culture Centre (MDWg) is offering
a position in marketing and communications and we would be grateful if you
could circulate this opportunity within your networks.

It may not be a typical linguist position but a language background
certainly is not a disadvantage either.

Marketing and Communications Officer at MDWg

Mirima Dawang Woorlab-gerring Language and Culture Centre (MDWg):

Mirima Dawang Woorlab-gerring translates to 'Mirima place for talking' in
the critically endangered Miriwoong language. MDWg was established in the
1970s to preserve and document the Miriwoong language. More recently, MDWg
has moved towards language revitalisation programs, including the Miriwoong
Language Nest which currently reaches 400 children each week throughout
Kununurra. MDWg is held in high esteem on both a local and national level,
as a leading Indigenous-led organisation working hard to achieve positive
outcomes for the local community.

About the role:

In this role, you will develop content that shares the incredible work of
MDWg throughout its expanding network. You will work at the heart of an
organisation working to preserve and revitalise an irreplaceable language
and culture. You will work to develop stakeholder relationships that
increase the visibility of MDWg and attract funding to the organisation.

Responsibilities:

* Further development of MDWg's existing sponsorship program

* Seeking out and/or implementing additional funding opportunities

* Improving MDWg's marketing efforts, including effective
networking/establishment of new partnerships

* Monitoring and updating MDWg's web-based communication strategies,
including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, website and email newsletters

* Involvement in MDWg's day to day business, corporate governance,
and logistics

* Liaise with stakeholders, project partners, and funding providers

* Organise events and initiatives to promote MDWg's work

Skills and experience:

* A genuine desire to help support the revitalisation of an
endangered language

* A background and demonstrated skill in communications, business,
management, marketing or related areas

* Above average communication skills in English (verbal and in
writing) - must be native-speaker level

* An open mind and strong respect for a culturally diverse
environment

* Ability to communicate and interact harmoniously as part of a
team, while respecting cultural sensitivities and considerations

* A warm and friendly temperament with the ability to positively
interact with stakeholders

* Above-average computer literacy (MS Office applications) and
willingness to engage with website management

*         Police clearance

* Western Australian driver's licence or equivalent
