Linguistics in the Pub (LIP) August 2010<br>

</div>InField is a US-based training summer institute on that has been run
twice, first at the University of California at Santa Barbara in 2008
and most recently at the University of Oregon (<a href="http://logos.uoregon.edu/infield2010/home/index.php" target="_blank">http://logos.uoregon.edu/infield2010/home/index.php</a>).
InField is an opportunity for linguists, language activists, language
teachers and members of minority language communities to receive
linguistics field training on a variety of topics that are relevant to
language documentation, maintenance, and revitalization. <br>
<br>In this LIP session Margaret Florey and Nick Thieberger will report
on their experience of training at this InField and discuss
possibilities for future training workshops in Australia.<br>

LIP is an occasional gathering of language activists and linguists in<br>
Melbourne. All are welcome. Those in other parts of Australia and the<br>
world who can't make it to the Melbourne LIPs are encouraged to<br>
organise a local gathering to discuss this topic and support language<br>
